Java Developer

As a developer you will be responsible for the specification, design, implementation, testing and aftercare of our software products and the related documentation. You will work within a team of software developers where you will be supported by modern development tools and object-orientated programming languages. You will fulfil a central role within the team and you are expected to supervise other team members. Your most important tasks and responsibilities will be:

• Designing, implementing and testing new (fairly) complex software
• Estimating and planning activities for yourself and your team
• Analysing incidents that have been reported by customer support
• Applying software engineering principles, processes, theory and concepts (UBL)
• Providing constructive feedback to team members and management
• Proposing improvements with regard to the development process and software maintenance
• Keeping documentation up to date
• Participating actively with regard to setting up functional specifications for new software
• Performing reviews (cross-team).

Profile
Our perfect candidate for this job has completed a 'computing' educational programme on a senior secondary vocational or higher professional education level and has 5-7 years experience with Java. Database knowledge of SQL server is an advantage. An affinity with the financial industry and business processes (procurement) is preferred. You have strong analytical competences and are fluent in English and preferably Dutch, both written and spoken. We are looking for an enthusiastic and pragmatic team player. 

A development team is being built up in the Netherlands that will work together with resources from our offshore team. The joint team will redevelop Esize modules that together form the Esize Procure to Pay platform. The focus is on developing new functionality under architecture guidelines and introducing new technology components where possible. The development team will be managed from Netherlands and resources will be working from Netherlands office as well as offshore office.
